Chris's "Simple" Philosophy to Design
“Simplicity means the achievement of maximum effect with minimum means.”
- Albert Einstein
How It All Went Down
In 2002, Chris Willitts founded the highly acclaimed self-publishing website Go Publish Yourself. This site was named one of the best websites for writers by Writer’s Digest during his three years of ownership (Go Publish Yourself was purchased by Click Industries in 2006). His monthly newsletter, “Publish This!,” served thousands of subscribers from across the globe.
Shortly after selling GPY, Chris transitioned into becoming a freelance web designer (while attending college) and was quickly acknowledged for helping businesses establish and strengthen their online identities through innovative digital media services.
The Innovation Project
As a result of Chris’s track record, and rumors of being somewhat of a renaissance man, he was recruited for a major project called INTER Innovation funded by the U.S. Department of Labor in 2007. Chris had the pleasure of working with a dream team of highly talented professionals from across the nation to develop a curriculum on the subject of innovation over the course of 12 months. Team members included seasoned educators, business executives, product designers, researchers, and media executives of high profile companies such as Disney, Sony, Warner Brothers, CBS and IDEO (the largest product innovation company in the world).
The Leaders and Best - Go Blue!
You could also say Chris is a "professional student" as his formal education is still being acquired from the University of Michigan with concentrations in psychology, consciousness studies, Asian studies (cultural), and business. As of this summer, Chris is a proud alumni of UM's LeaderShape Institute, a highly regarded leadership development program.
Keeping It Positive
Chris is a member of
Net Impact, an international nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire, educate, and equip individuals to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. Net Impact members are current and emerging leaders in CSR, social entrepreneurship, nonprofit management, international development, and environmental sustainability who are actively improving the world.
The Mindful Movement
One of Chris’s newest visions involves leading, and working with, a circle of experts and enthusiasts of meditation, yoga, and mindful strength training on a venture called
Mindful Muscle. The focal point of this project is creating space for transformation using mindful practices, and how this has significant implications to elevating our collective consciousness and health.
Mindful Muscle officially launched during the fall of 2009.
Sleeves That Sell
This fall Chris is teaming up with another young entrepreneur to initiate a new kind of media company that develops innovative ways to advertise and market businesses.
Sleeves That Sell is the first expression of this vision, which will design and execute advertising campaigns... on coffee sleeves.
